If you thought that Kimchi is the only South Korean dish that is popular and worth trying, then you are wrong! Here is a list of the best traditional South Korean Cuisine dishes that you must try. These dishes have very different flavors and are definitely worth trying.

Hoeddeok

These are sweet and syrupy pancakes made in South Korea. These are a popular street food here and are generally sweeter than the Western pancake. It is also flat in shape and the circular dough is filled with a mixture of cinnamon, brown sugar, honey and some peanut. The delicacy tastes heavenly as it is crunchy on the outer side and soft on the inner side.

This is a typical South Korean dish that can be translated as marinated beef barbecue. It is a savory dish made form grilled and marinated dish. This dish is quite popular across the world and is also ranked as the 23rd most delicious food in the world. It is grilled along with garlic and onions to add additional flavor. The meat is then wrapped in lettuce and is then eaten with a thick, spicy red paste.

Samgyeopsal

This is a traditional dish made from pork strips. It consists of grilled sliced of meat taken from the belly of a pig. These are dipped in a seasoning made of pepper, salt, sesame seed oil, and then wrapped in lettuce along with grilled slices of onion, garlic, shredded onions and kimchi. This is one of the most common items found in South Korea.

Japchae

Japchae or stir-fried noodles are a common main course dish in South Korea. These are served for lunch or dinner. It is a traditional dish from shredded vegetables, soy sauce, sugar, beef and stir-fried potatoes. Sometimes, mushrooms are added to the dish. It is a sweet and flavorful dish which has a slightly chewy taste and texture.

Kimchi

This is a South Korean staple food that is made from fermented vegetables. It is commonly served as a side dish with several other dishes. It is spicy and sour and prepared with various vegetables, but cabbage is the main ingredient. It has a unique flavor and is also very nutritious. This vegetable has good fiber content and low calories. Without kimchi, dinner is considered incomplete in south Korea.

Ddukbokki

Ddukbokki or spicy rice cake, as the name suggests is a savory dish from spicy rice. It is a common dish made of rice cakes set in cylindrical shapes, vegetables and sweet red chili sauce served along with it. Some people also add a triangular fish cake besides the rice cake to complete the meal. You may find street vendors selling this commonly in South Korea. It is a delectable dish of sweet and spicy flavors.

Sundubu-jjigae

This dish is a soft tofu stew made from vegetables, mushroom, seafood, beef, pork or meat, chili paste and tofu. You may add or remove some ingredients as per your preference. This dish has several variants and sometimes, a raw egg is also placed on top of the stew and mixed with the soup just before serving to add some eggy flavor to the dish
